Responsibilities and Services: Serving the area of Oswego County as prosecutor for the state in criminal cases. Purposes of the STOP-DWI program are enforcement, public information and education, adjudication and rehabilitation of drunk drivers. The program is funded entirely by fines from convicted drunk drivers.

Responsibilities and Services: Coordinates the development of the enhanced 9-1-1 emergency calling system, which is scheduled to go on-line in mid-1997.

Responsibilities and Services: Registers voters, maintains voter rolls in all county, towns, cities and villages. Trains custodians and inspectors in election laws and procedures, assists with voter registration drives and certifies validity of elections according to state and federal laws.

Responsibilities and Services: Conducts training programs in the different techniques of fire fighting for volunteer fire fighters in the county. Training programs are conducted at fire stations in the county. Coordinates mutual aid services and serves as liaison between county government and the Fire Advisory Board, County Chief's Association, Firemen's Association, Fire Police Association, HazMat Team, Underwater Rescue and Recovery Team, and Rope Rescue Team. Conducts cause and origin investigations for local fire departments. Conducts the Fire Related Youth program in the county.

Responsibilities and Services: The Oswego County Jail oversees prisoners using the direct supervision method. Personnel are responsible for the safe supervision and incarceration of inmates and conducting rehabilitation programs.

Responsibilities and Services: Processes applications for learner permits and driver licenses, administers road tests for motor vehicle operation. Processes motor vehicle registrations and registrations for boats, snowmobiles and other vehicles.

Administers employee benefit plans, labor relations and civil service regulations for County employees. Also responsible for civil service administration for towns, villages and school districts in Oswego County. Cities of Fulton and Oswego (Departments and Schools) are excluded.

Responsibilities and Services: The Purchasing Department ensures that the county’s procurement and sale of materials and services is conducted in a legal and competitive manner that provides the best price and value for the taxpayers of Oswego County. The department maintains the county’s fixed asset inventory. Additionally, the department coordinates the Oswego County Public Utility Service Board and the Power for Progress low-cost electricity program.

Responsibilities and Services: Custodian of county funds and manages government finances. Maintains county tax maps and assessment records. Provides Assessment Administration education and training. Conducts county auctions.

Provides Oswego County residents, businesses, industries and institutions a program for the disposal and recycling of solid waste, including management of a sanitary landfill, an Energy Recovery Facility, five Transfer Stations, Compost Area and Materials Recovery Facility. Provides solid waste and recycling information and services to residents, businesses, institutions, municipalities and other government agencies in Oswego County. Provides information about the disposal of specialized wastes. Speakers and tours are available to community groups on recycling and waste reduction.
