Youth Court Sponsors Training Class During February Break
OSWEGO -- The Oswego City-County Youth Bureau is sponsoring a training class during February Break for new members to the City and County Youth Court program. Training will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, Feb. 17 through 20, at the McCrobie Building on Lake Street, Oswego.
All area high school students in grades 9 to 11 are eligible to participate. The deadline to register is Friday, Feb. 6.
Students are trained to become judges, defense attorneys, prosecuting attorneys and court clerks. Young people who have been charged with minor offenses are referred by local law enforcement officers to Youth Court. Youth Court members conduct hearings and decide on the outcome and punishment for each case.
