Social Services to Explain Agency Adoption Process at March 10 Meeting
The Oswego County Department of Social Services will sponsor an informational meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 10 at the department's Spring Street office, Mexico for persons who are interested in adoption. All children available for adoption through Social Services have been in foster care for a period of time. The children are typically age eight and older and have special needs.
The 10-week pre-certification training program for people who wish to become adoptive or foster parents will be held Wednesday evenings beginning March 24 from 6 to 9 p.m. Classes will run through May 26. Attendance at the informational meeting is required in order to enroll in the "Model Approach to Partnerships in Parenting - Group Selection Process" training. Single and two-parent families may apply to be foster or adoptive families. Both parents in a two-parent household must attend the training.
