Camp Hollis Is Offering Camper Scholarships for Children
The Oswego County children's camp at Camp Hollis is still accepting applications for the summer season. Openings remain in weekly sessions for boys and girls between the ages of nine and twelve. The camp season begins the week of July 5 and ends the week of Aug. 16. The fee for camp varies from $20 to $80 per weeklong session, depending on family income.
Camp Hollis is owned by Oswego County and administered by the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau. Located on the shore of Lake Ontario in the town of Oswego, the camp offers sports, arts and crafts, nature study, swimming, campfire songfests and nutritious meals for the 100 children who attend the camp each session. Campers are supervised by trained counselors and lifeguards during the program. A full-time health director is in residence during the program as well.
For the second consecutive year, a grant award from The Rosamond Gifford Foundation will provide full and partial scholarships to help families who may need assistance in paying the fee.
"The support we have been given from The Rosamond Gifford Foundation allows Camp Hollis to maintain its goal of offering a camping experience to all age eligible children in Oswego County," said Kathleen Fenlon, Executive Director of the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau. "Because of the generosity of the Foundation, no child will be denied an opportunity to enjoy a week of summer camp."
