Office for the Aging is Distributing Farmers' Market Coupons

The Oswego County Office for the Aging is distributing coupon booklets that can be used at farmers' markets this summer. The booklets contain $20 worth of coupons that may be redeemed at any participating farmers' market when purchasing fresh produce.

Booklets may be picked up at the Office for the Aging, 70 Bunner St., Oswego, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. beginning Monday, July 19. Booklets will also be available at the following senior nutrition sites between 10:30 a.m. and noon:

  • Thursday, July 22: Pontiac Terrace Apartments, Oswego;
  • Friday, July 23: Fulton Municipal Building;
  • Monday, July 26: Hannibal Community Center, Hannibal, and Ringgold Fire Hall, Pulaski.
  • Wednesday, July 28: Congregational Church, Phoenix.
  • Friday, July 30: Presbyterian Church, Mexico.
  • Monday, Aug. 2: St. Michael's Church, Central Square; and
  • Tuesday, Aug. 3: Parish Fire Hall, Parish.

To be eligible, you must be age 60 or older and meet the following income guidelines:

  • Currently be receiving or be eligible for SSI, public assistance, food stamps, Home Energy Assistance ($1,729 for a one-person household and $2,261 for a two-person household), or Section 8 housing subsidy; or
  • Have a monthly income at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty guidelines ($1,551.65 for a one-person household, and $2,081.65 for a two-person household).
