HEAP Programs Are Accepting Applications
The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) will begin its 2004-2005 season Wednesday, Nov. 3. The federally funded program provides fuel and energy assistance for low- and moderate-income families.
The Oswego County Department of Social Services will administer the program. To make an appointment, call DSS at 963-5000 or 1-888-963-5377, or stop by the office at 100 Spring St., Mexico.
The Oswego County Office for the Aging continues to process applications for county residents age 60 or over and those who are disabled and not receiving food stamps, who meet income eligibility criteria. To request an application, contact the Oswego County Office for the Aging at 349-3484 or 1-800-596-3200 ext. 3484, weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., or stop by the office at 70 Bunner St., Oswego.
Monthly income guidelines are as follows: 1-person household, $1,702 maximum; 2-person household, $2,226; 3-person household, $2,749; 4-person household, $3,273; and 5-person household, $3,797. These limits continue to increase as family size increases.
