County Sponsors Free Training Workshop for Planning and Zoning Officials
OSWEGO -- The County Department of Planning and Community Development will sponsor a training workshop to update local officials on zoning procedures and the process for site plan reviews. The free seminar will be from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, in the Legislative Chambers of the Oswego County Office Building, 46 E. Bridge St.
Experts from the local government division of the New York State Department of State and the Preservation League of New York will lead the seminar. Planning and zoning board members, code enforcement officers, elected officials and attorneys are encouraged to attend. Attorneys seeking credit will be charged $25 per session.
The first session, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., will cover issues involved with amending zoning laws. Attorneys may receive 1.5 hours of continuing legal education credit for this session.
The second session, from 8:15 to 9:30 p.m., will cover site plan reviews and special use permits. Attorneys may receive 1 hour of continuing legal education credit for this course.
"I encourage elected officials and members of our local planning and zoning boards to take this opportunity for free training," said Brian Frazier, director of the county Department of Planning and Community Development.
