County Team and State Police Investigating Fire in Volney
Volney - The Oswego County Cause & Origin Team and New York State Police are investigating the cause of a fire that occurred this morning on County Route 6 in the Town of Volney.
Firefighters responded to a call to the 911 Communications Center at 3:34 a.m. to find a fully involved fire. There was one rescue of a child located inside the house.
Three family members have been treated at Lee Memorial Hospital in Fulton, but two children are unaccounted for.
County Fire Coordinator John Hinds said the fire was knocked down at 5:42 a.m. The first units on the scene found the fire fully involved. Over 50 firefighters from seven departments were on the scene. There were no firefighter injuries.
Fire departments responding included Volney, Palermo, Granby Center, Phoenix, Scriba, New Haven and Fulton. Menter's Ambulance was also on the scene, along with the county air truck.
