Raynor Ford Donates Vehicle for Undercover Drug Investigations

When undercover agents track drug activity, they need to be discreet. They can't be driving around in cars that are easily recognizable. Their jobs are made a little easier this spring with the donation of a used motor vehicle by the Fred Raynor Ford Group of Fulton.

Members of the Oswego County Drug Task Force will use the vehicle to investigate illicit drug use in Oswego County, said Oswego County District Attorney Donald H. Dodd. Dodd recently presented Rodd Raynor a plaque expressing his gratitude for the donation.

"The Drug Task Force greatly appreciates the support of the Fred Raynor Group in providing the materials necessary to do our investigations," said Dodd. "People that sell drugs and buy drugs become aware of the vehicles that law enforcement agencies use. This type of support helps us to change our enforcement patterns so that our investigations can remain undercover."

Task force coordinator Jack Doyle said the community has been very supportive of the drug task force. In the past, undercover vehicles have been donated by Fucillo Motors and Burritt Chevrolet.

"Their actions show a positive attitude by the business community to assist law enforcement's efforts in cutting down on the availability of illicit drugs in Oswego County," he said.

"Raynor Ford has done more than just talk - they've acted," said Dodd. "And we appreciate it greatly."

The drug task force is made up of members of the Oswego County Sheriff's Office, Oswego City Police, Oswego State University Police, and New York State Police Community Narcotics Team.

Doyle adds that the task force receives hundreds of telephone calls a year on its anonymous tip phone line. The phone number to report suspected drug activity in Oswego County is 888-511-8997.
