Explore Camp Hollis at Open House May 22
OSWEGO TOWN - Kids who are looking for a break from an ordinary summer and parents who would like their child to experience a week at summer camp are invited to learn more about Camp Hollis at an open house from 1 to 5 p.m. May 22.
Owned and operated by the Oswego City/County Youth Bureau, Camp Hollis has provided a free camping experience for Oswego County children from 1946 to 2002. In recent years the county has initiated a sliding scale fee. Full scholarships are available for campers.
The camp is located on the shore of Lake Ontario in the Town of Oswego. Weekly sessions are available this summer for Oswego County children ages eight to 13.
"The open house is an opportunity for children to visit the camp and experience some of the activities that go on during the summer," said Jim Farfaglia, senior youth services specialist for the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau. "This is also an opportunity for parents to visit the camp, meet the staff, and obtain information on daily events, how to enroll their children, and scholarship opportunities."
The open house will include cabin tours, shooting basketball, roasting marshmallows, nature hikes, arts and crafts and other activities. For further details, call Jim Farfaglia at 349-3451 or e-mail Adam DeMott, AmeriCorps member, at firstname.lastname@example.org
