Child Advocacy Group Plans Special Projects for Kids at Oswego County P&C Stores

The Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County has organized a variety of events for children at P & C stores in Oswego County during the month of June.

Volunteers from the Child Advocacy Center, the county Department of Social Services, the New York State Police, P & C store employees, and several other community agencies are helping with the Caring for Children campaign.

"The activities are designed to provide healthy activities for children and increase awareness among the community of child abuse prevention programs," said Olivia VanSanford, director of the Child Advocacy Center.

A "Party in the Parking Lot" with free prizes, a variety of games, raffles and children's fingerprinting will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 12, at the Oswego P & C Store on state Route 104.

Additional events at the Oswego P & C, 137 state Route 104, include:

  • June 5, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Car wash with proceeds to benefit the Child Advocacy Center. Sponsored by the Oswego High School Key Club
  • June 9, 3 to 5 p.m.: Child safety coloring contest
  • June 18, 2 to 4 p.m.: "Hands are not for hitting" program
  • June 23, 3 to 5 p.m.: Milk-tasting contest
  • June 25, noon to 2 p.m.: Self-esteem project

Schedule of events for Pulaski P & C, 830 Rome Road:

  • June 8, 3 to 5 p.m.: Child safety coloring contest
  • June 11, noon to 2 p.m.: "Hands are not for hitting" project
  • June 15, 3 to 5 p.m.: New York State Police K-9 demonstration
  • June 16, 4 to 6 p.m.: Milk-tasting contest
  • June 25, noon to 2 p.m.: Self-esteem project and children's fingerprinting

  • June 9, 4 to 6 p.m.: "Hands are not for hitting" project
  • June 16, 3 to 5 p.m.: Child safety coloring contest
  • June 18, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Milk-tasting contest
  • June 24, 5 to 7 p.m.: Self-esteem project
  • June 25, noon to 2 p.m.: Children's fingerprinting project
