AmeriCorps Is Looking for People to Work at Community Agencies this Fall
The Oswego County AmeriCorps program is accepting applications for positions at schools, libraries and community service organizations around Oswego County. Projects will begin Sept. 1 and will last between six months and a year.
AmeriCorps is a national service program, administered in Oswego County by the Oswego City-County Bureau. This will be the program's ninth year of serving youth in Oswego County.
Members who serve in 1,700-hour AmeriCorps positions serve for 12 months. They receive a living allowance of $10,978 at the end of their term of service. For 900-hour AmeriCorps positions, members serve between six and 12 months. A 900-hour member receives a living allowance of $5, 812 and an education award of $2,362.50.
Applicants must be at least 17 years of age. There is no upper age limit. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED or be in the process of receiving one. Some sites request additional experience or education.
Sites include BOCES Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Services; APW Central School District; Camp Fire USA; Cleveland Elementary School; Constantia Library; Fairgrieve Elementary School, Fulton; Fulton CYO; Fulton Community Task Force; Hannibal School District; Harborfestivals Guild; Lura Sharp Elementary School, Pulaski; Mexico Elementary School; Oswego City Youth Center; Oswego County Teachers Center, Pulaski; Oswego YMCA; Palermo Elementary School; Pulaski High School; and Success-By-6, Fulton.
