Social Services Department Sponsors Orientation Meeting for Future Foster Parents
MEXICO -- The Oswego County Department of Social Services is looking for families who would like to become foster families, especially for children ages 12 and over. Families are especially needed in the Fulton, Hannibal, Central Square and Oswego areas.
The Department of Social Services will host an informational meeting for people who are considering foster or adoptive parenting from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Social Services Department, Spring Street, Mexico. People who enroll in foster parent training must attend the informational meeting.
A 5-week pre-certification training class, called "Model Approach to Partnerships in Parenting - Group Process Selection," will be held Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sept. 17 through Oct. 15. Both parents in a two-parent household must attend the training. Single parents are also able to be certified.
