County Waives Fee for Wood Chips Disposal
VOLNEY -- The Oswego County Division of Solid Waste is no longer charging to dispose of wood chips at the county transfer stations. The department, which uses wood chips to compost fish waste, has waived the $20 per ton disposal fee for wood chips.
The cost to dispose of large loads of brush and tree waste or other compostable materials remains $20 per ton, with a $5 minimum scale charge.
Oswego County solid waste transfer stations and recycling drop-off centers are closed Mondays and are open Tuesday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon. Sticker sales and weigh scale operations end at 4 p.m. weekdays and 11:30 a.m. Saturdays.
