Social Services Staff to Explain Agency Adoption Process at March 15 Meeting
MEXICO -- The Oswego County Department of Social Services will sponsor an informational meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 15 at the department’s Spring Street office, Mexico for people who are interested in adopting a child. Children that are waiting to be adopted through the Department of Social Services have been in foster care for a period of time. The children are typically age eight or older and have special needs.
A 10-week pre-certification training program for people who wish to become adoptive or foster parents will be held Wednesday evenings, March 22 through May 24, from 6 to 9 p.m. Attendance at the March 15 informational meeting is required in order to enroll in the “Model Approach to Partnerships in Parenting – Group Process Selection” training. Single adults and two-parent families may apply to become foster or adoptive parents. Both parents in a two-parent household must attend the training.
