Sign Up for Community CPR Class Before April 28
People who have never taken CPR can learn how to do cardiopulmonary resuscitation on adults at a free class Saturday, May 13, at the Volney Fire Department on state Route 3 near Fulton.
The class is sponsored by the Oswego County Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council (EMSAC) in conjunction with the county health department’s EMS program.
The class is free for people who want to learn CPR and who don’t require certification. It will be held from 9 a.m. to noon. There is a $15 fee for people who want basic lifesaving (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association. This class will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“CPR training teaches a person how to keep the heart beating while professional help is on the way,” said Randi Driesen, Oswego County EMS Coordinator. “If the right kind of treatment can be given to a heart attack victim within seconds after they are stricken, the chances are good that the person’s life can be saved.”
The deadline to register is April 28. Seating is limited. To register, contact Driesen at the Oswego County Health Department, weekdays, at 349-3547 or 1-800-596-3200, ext. 3547.
