FL-LOWPA Conference Will Focus on Economic Development and Environment
AUBURN – “Unifying Economic Development and the Environment” is the challenge that will be addressed in the annual conference of the Finger Lakes – Lake Ontario Watershed Protection Alliance (FL-LOWPA) June 23 in Auburn.
A variety of workshops are scheduled between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the Auburn Holiday Inn, 75 N. St. Local business owners, government officials, environmental and civic groups, economic developers, and town planning officials from Oswego County are encouraged to attend. The alliance includes Oswego County.
“The conference will examine a number of environmental and economic trends and identify methods that unify economic development and environmental protection of the Lake Ontario and Finger Lakes region,” said David Turner, director of the Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning. “Workshops will focus on eco-tourism and market development, watersheds and water quality, and economic development and technology.”
Guest speakers will include state Senator Michael Nozzolio of Seneca Falls and Carmella Mantello, director of the New York State Canal Corporation. Registration is $35 and includes lunch. The deadline to register is June 19. For more information call FL-LOWPA at 585-313-7119.
