Oswego County Fair -- Free Admission with Plenty of Activities!
SANDY CREEK -- This year’s Oswego County Fair will offer free admission and free parking in addition to amusement rides, harness racing, music, demolition derbies and barns full of farm animals.
The 149th edition of the county fair runs from June 29 through July 4 at the County Fairgrounds in Sandy Creek. The fair offers plenty of family activities each day including horse shows, a pie-eating contest, sawdust hunt, antique tractor pulls and talent shows.
“This year, there’s no cost for admission. We welcome families and visitors of all ages. There are daily events such as the Wambold’s Circus Menagerie, a skillet throwing contest, the Woodchuck Sculpture show, and a sawdust hunt. The only admission costs will be for the grandstand events,” said Jerry Thomas, president of the Agricultural Society of Oswego County, which operates the fair.
Fair planners are also reinstating the traditional fair parade on Thursday, June 29 at 6:30 p.m.
As with any county fair, families will be able to see animals up close and watch the judging of draft horses, poultry, goat, beef and swine each day. Grandstand events include a free harness racing competition on Thursday, June 29 at noon.
