Fire Training Class Sept. 9 on Propane Emergencies
Oswego County Fire Coordinator John Hinds announces that the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY) and the New York Propane Gas Association will sponsor a training workshop on “Handling Propane Emergencies” from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Dexter Fire Department, 104 Canal St., Saturday, Sept. 9.
The course consists of three hours of classroom instruction, followed by lunch and an afternoon of hands-on “live burn” training. The training and education class will cover the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and effectively operate at fixed site or transportation emergencies involving propane gas.
Emergency responders are required to bring full turnout gear and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
