DSS Sponsors Orientation Meeting for Future Foster Parents
The Oswego County Department of Social Services is looking for people who would like to become foster parents, particularly for children ages 12 and over. Families are especially needed in the Fulton, Hannibal, Central Square and Oswego areas.
There will be an informational meeting for people who are considering foster or adoptive parenting from 6:30 to 8 p.m Tuesday, Oct. 10 at the Social Services Department, Spring Street, Mexico. Attendance at the informational meeting is required for people who enroll in foster parent training.
The Department of Social Services will offer a 10-week pre-certification training, “Model Approach to Partnerships in Parenting - Group Selection Process,” Saturdays, Oct. 21 through Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Both parents in a two-parent household must attend the training. Single parents may also be certified.
