Area Employers will Answer Questions from Job Seekers at Career Forum

FULTON - While job searching, do you come up with important questions that can't be answered? Do you try to browse the Internet or a book and still not find the information you're looking for? Well, now you have the opportunity to ask local employers all of your career-related questions.

Job seekers are invited to hear area business owners and human resource directors answer their questions at a panel discussion sponsored by Oswego County Workforce New York entitled “Employers and You: A Feedback Forum.” The program will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17, on the second floor of the Oswego County Branch Office Building, State Route 481, Fulton.

Several local employers will share information and explain the hiring process at their place of employment. They include Mark Ruskewicz from Entergy; Gail Mangano from St. Luke's Health Services; Mike Gladziszewiski from Auxiliary Services, SUNY Oswego; Sherry Timm from Crysteel; and Tracey Hawthorn from Best Western Motel.

Representatives will talk about their business, its purpose, and range of jobs; how candidates apply for employment; qualities the employer looks for in a new hire; and why employees are “let go.” Job seekers will then have the opportunity to ask questions of the panel members.

Oswego County Workforce New York, formerly known as the Career Connection Center, offers services from the Oswego County Division of Employment and Training and through the NYS Department of Labor. The center partners with several state and local agencies to help people who are looking for jobs.

“Employers and You: A Feedback Forum” is open and free to the public, but space is limited. Priority will be given to those who pre-register. For more information or to pre- register, call Oswego County Workforce New York weekdays at 591-9000.
