OSWEGO - Children in kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to the 18th annual Halloween Happening from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, at Leighton Elementary School gymnasium in Oswego.

The event is sponsored by the Oswego Firefighters' Association, the Oswego YMCA Youth Center, the Oswego-City County Youth Bureau, and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.

All children must be accompanied by an adult.

This year's event will feature hayrides, a Halloween costume contest with prizes, helium balloons, and free refreshments including apples, apple cider, donuts, and popcorn. Music and entertainment will be provided by Vince “The Vin Man” Ruggio.

Adding to this year's excitement will be a youth tennis carnival conducted by the United States Tennis Association. Youth need no prior tennis experience to join in the fun.

There is no admission charge. Guests are asked to bring at least one canned food item to help benefit the Human Concerns Center in Oswego.
