Low-Income Elderly May be Eligible for Home Repairs
Oswego County has received a $36,250 grant from the New York State Housing Trust Fund Corporation to help low-income elderly pay for emergency home repairs. Grants of up to $2,500 may be used for patching leaking roofs, dangerous furnaces, electrical problems that could cause a fire, failing septic systems, and other housing repairs that would create an unsafe living situation if left alone.
The RESTORE - Elderly Emergency HOME Repair Program is being administered by the County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning, on behalf of the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal.
The program is designed to address only emergency housing repairs. Homeowners who have previously received RESTORE grant funds may not be eligible.
The Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning will begin accepting applications in February. To request an application, call 349-8292 or 1-800-596-3200, ext. 8292.
