Explore Camp Hollis at May 12 Open House
The snow is gone, the sun is out, and summer is just around the corner! It's time to get your hiking shoes on and head on over to the Camp Hollis open house on Saturday, May 12, from 2 to 6 p.m.
During your visit you may take a tour of the cabins, go hiking through the trails, make your own s'mores, meet previous campers and counselors and meet Jim Farfaglia, director of Camp Hollis.
“This is a great opportunity to visit the site, ask questions, participate in special activities, and experience a taste of the camping environment,” said Farfaglia. “In addition, we will be providing snacks and leading visitors in some special activities designed from our summer programs.”
During the summer Camp Hollis offers week-long camping sessions for children between the ages of 9 and 12. A mini-camp is provided for 8-year-olds. Camp Hollis is also the setting for numerous learning opportunities for teens.
“Find out about our new 13- and 14-year-old program and our 15- and 16-year-old “counselors in training” program,” said Farfaglia. “We also have teen-based Project X, which offers lessons in outdoor education and protecting our environment.”
Youth aren't the only people to take advantage of all Camp Hollis has to offer. Senior citizens love to visit Camp Hollis and teachers use Camp Hollis as an alternative classroom.
Tuition for Camp Hollis is based on family income. Information will be available about full or partial scholarships that are sponsored by Friends of Camp Hollis.
“Rain or shine, just come and enjoy!” said Farfaglia.
