Oswego County Sponsors HHW Collection Sept. 15
The Oswego County Department of Solid Waste will hold a household hazardous waste collection program at the Bristol Hill Landfill, state Route 3, Volney, Saturday, Sept. 15. Vehicles will be unloaded between 8 a.m. and noon.
Residents may bring the following items to the event:
Acids, adhesives, antifreeze, auto batteries, brake fluid, charcoal lighters, degreasers, dioxin pesticides, disinfectants, drain cleaners, epoxies, fiberglass resins, flea products, furniture polish;
Hair removers, herbicides, inks, insecticides, insect repellents, lacquers, lighter fluids, lubricants, moth balls and flakes, nail polish and remover, "no pest" strips, oven cleaners;
Latex and oil-based paints, paint removers and thinners, pesticides, photo chemicals, pool chemicals, rat poisons, rug cleaners, rust solvents, spot removers, toilet bowl cleaners, tub and tile cleaners, turpentine, varnish, waste fuels, weed killers, wood preservatives, and wood stains.
Residents will be asked to remain in their vehicles. For the safety of their children and pets, residents are asked to leave them at home if possible.
The collection program is open to Oswego County residents only. Waste materials from businesses and industries won't be accepted.
