Youth Bureau Sets Grant Application Deadline
Not-for-profit organizations have until October 10 to apply for grant funds through the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.
"These state grant funds are allocated annually by the Youth Bureau Board of Directors to not-for-profit agencies," said Youth Bureau Director Kathleen Fenlon. "Youth Development Delinquency Prevention (YDDP) funds are intended to support services that provide opportunities for positive youth development and help youth attain the developmental assets needed to grow up to be competent, caring and healthy adults."
Fenlon continues to explain that a separate amount of state funding is from Special Delinquency Prevention Funds (SDPP), which support services that are aimed at keeping youth from becoming involved in the juvenile justice system or being chronically dependent on the human services system.
New applicants must come to one of two bidder's conferences. Youth Bureau staff will review the application guidelines and assist the applicant with starting the application process. The bidder's conferences will be held on Monday September 17 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Youth Bureau conference room, 70 Bunner St., Oswego.
The YDDP and SDPP funding is from the NYS Office of Children and Family Services, and programs supported by this funding cannot charge a fee for participation. For further information, those interested can contact Brian Chetney at the Youth Bureau at 349-3451 or 1-800-596-3200, ext. 3451.
