Voter Registration Deadline for General Election Is Oct. 12
The Oswego County Board of Elections is reminding people who wish to vote in the Nov. 6 General Election that they need to register to vote if they haven't already done so.
Election Commissioners Donald Wart and William Scriber announced the following voter registration deadlines:
Mail-in voter registration forms must be postmarked by midnight Friday, Oct. 12 and be received by the Board of Elections no later than Oct. 17 to be valid for the upcoming election. Residents may register in person at the County Board of Elections, 185 E. Seneca St., Oswego, until 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12.
People who have moved from one county to another need to re-register with their new address. Registered voters who have moved within Oswego County should notify the Board of Elections in writing of their move no later than Oct. 17 so that the change may be processed and entered into the records in time for the Nov. 6 election.
Residents who have been honorably discharged from the military, or who become naturalized citizens after Oct. 12, may register in person at the Board of Elections until Oct. 26.
Voter registration forms are also available on the Oswego County Web site, as well as at most post offices, libraries, and state agency offices. All new voters registering by mail must provide a copy of their driver's license or Social Security card if they don't have a driver's license.
