Social Services Department Announces Oct. 15 Orientation Meeting for Future Foster Parents
The Oswego County Department of Social Services is looking for families in Oswego County who would like to become foster families, particularly for children ages 12 and over. Homes are especially needed in the Fulton, Hannibal, Central Square and Oswego areas.
The department will host an orientation meeting for people who are considering foster or adoptive parenting from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15 at the Social Services Department, Spring Street, Mexico. Attendance at the informational meeting is required before enrolling in foster parent training. All prospective foster parents are invited to attend.
The five-week pre-certification training, “Model Approach to Partnerships in Parenting - Group Process Selection,” will be held Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Oct. 20 through Nov. 17. Both parents in a two-parent household must attend the training. Single parents are also able to be certified.
