OSWEGO - November 2007 has been designated as Hospice Month in Oswego County, in recognition of the health care professionals and volunteers of the Oswego County Hospice.
Sponsored by the Oswego County Health Department, Oswego County Hospice has served nearly 2,000 patients and their families since it was established in 1989. Hospice staff and volunteer caregivers served 158 patients last year in Oswego County, offering a measure of peace and comfort to terminally ill individuals and their families.
In presenting the proclamation on behalf of the Oswego County Legislature, Legislature Vice Chairman Greg Osetek, District 15, suggested that citizens "take some time to recognize and acknowledge the Oswego County health care professionals and volunteers of the Oswego County Hospice Program for their devotion to life."
The next training program for hospice volunteers will be held in the Spring. Those interested in volunteering may call 349-8259 or 1-800-596-3200, ext. 8259 for more information.
