Camp Hollis Exhibition Draws an Enthusiastic Audience
Displaying copies of “Camp Hollis: Stories from a Child's Heart” are Jim Farfaglia, Oswego City-County Youth Bureau; Alysa Koloms, SUNY Oswego; Jim Arnold, AmeriCorps, and Bill Reilly, river's end bookstore. The exhibition took place Nov. 29 at the river's end bookstore in Oswego.
OSWEGO - The river's end bookstore hosted an exhibition for “Camp Hollis: Stories from a Child's Heart” on Thursday, Nov. 29. Despite the threat of inclement weather, the presentation attracted an enthusiastic audience of current and former residents of Camp Hollis and the community.
Jim Farfaglia, senior youth services specialist with the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau, led the event.
“This project was very meaningful to me, not only because I have worked with Camp Hollis for the last 18 years, but also because I am a former camper and counselor, myself,” said Farfaglia. “My father is a former camper as well. I guess you could say that the spirit of Camp Hollis is in my blood.”
The exhibit was comprised of a booklet and DVD set created by Alysa Koloms, a SUNY Oswego intern, and Jim Arnold, an AmeriCorps volunteer. A historical resource for the camp, it is a collection of personal reflections of former campers and staff who attended Camp Hollis in its earliest years.
The booklet and DVD set is available through the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau. There is no charge, but donations are suggested to the Friends of Camp Hollis fund-raising organization.
