Oswego County Transfer Stations will be Open Mondays Starting in January

Oswego County's solid waste transfer stations and recycling drop-off centers will be open Mondays beginning Jan. 7, 2008. The new hours are one of several changes that will take effect in January, said Frank Visser, Director of Solid Waste Programs.

Transfer stations will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. Sticker and punch card sales and weigh scales will close -hour before the transfer stations close.

Visser said the following changes in user fees will also take effect in January:

  • Residential Household Tipping Fee Sticker: $125 annual sticker. Stickers will expire Dec. 31, 2008. The residential sticker allows people to dispose of household trash and recyclables at any of the county's five transfer stations.
  • Punch cards: $30 each. Each card allows the user to dispose of 20 kitchen-sized 13-gallon trash bags at a transfer station.
  • Fish Waste: $80 per ton delivered to Pulaski Transfer Station; $52 per ton at Bristol Hill Landfill.
  • Weighed Tipping Fee: $80 per ton at the transfer stations; $52 per ton if delivered to Energy Recovery Facility or Bristol Hill Landfill.
  • Construction and demolition wood: $35 per ton. Must be full loads; accepted only at Energy Recovery Facility.

Residents buying a solid waste sticker or punch card need to show proof of Oswego County residency and have their vehicle and vehicle registration with them at the time of purchase. Business vehicles, and vehicles that don't have the purchaser's household address on the vehicle registration, won't be issued residential stickers.

Transfer stations are located at:

  • Bristol Hill, 3125 State Route 3, Volney;
  • 1167 County Route 7, Hannibal;
  • 1391 U.S. Route 11, Hastings;
  • 700 E. Seneca Street, Oswego; and
