Oswego County Budget Available Online
OSWEGO - Oswego County's adopted 2008 budget is available online at www.oswegocounty.com/admin. This is the first time the county's budget has been made available to the public in a downloadable electronic format. In the past, the county budget was only available in a bulky printed book.
“The county budget is now available online to make it easier and quicker for the general public to get a copy of it,” said County Administrator Philip Church. “The online version has a hyperlinked table of contents that will take you to the sections of the budget you want to see with a simple mouse click. It also includes an introduction about the budget process, an explanation of the various parts of the budget, and a glossary of definitions.”
The budget which was adopted by the County Legislature in December reduced the average county tax rate by 10.13 percent - down from $7.99 to $7.18 per $1,000 assessed value of property.
The online budget document is in Adobe .pdf format and is one megabyte in size. Users will need to have Adobe Reader installed on their computer to access the file. Adobe Reader is a free program and is available at www.adobe.com.
The online budget is a project of the County Administrator's Office and the Department of Central Services.
