Angler-Related Businesses Are Invited to Participate in
Lake Ontario Showcase at Bass Pro Shop
The Lake Ontario Sportfishing Promotion Council (LOSPC) announces its second annual Lake Ontario Sportfishing Showcase in partnership with Bass Pro Shops Sportsman's Center in Auburn, March 28 through 30. The event is a unique opportunity for central New York anglers to meet with Lake Ontario fishing-related businesses and get acquainted with the Lake Ontario fishery.
“Based on the success of last year's show with 16 booths, and thanks to the great cooperation of George Fiorille at Bass Pro Shops, we're expanding the show area at the Auburn Center,” said Bill Hilts Jr., president of LOSPC. “Bass Pro Shops brings enormous brand recognition to our event and it's a great occasion to get ready for April trout season.”
Dave Turner, organizing committee member and director of the Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning, invites Oswego County's charter captains and fishing-related businesses to participate. “The show offers great exposure for our fishing businesses,” said Turner. “The store is centrally located and we expect the event to attract thousands of visitors.”
This will again be an educational, as well as entertaining event, according to Wayne Hale, Jr., Showcase coordinator. “We've invited Lake Ontario experts from the environmental field, charter fishing services, and tackle manufacturers to introduce anglers to new fishing techniques, the state of the fishery, and new products during the Showcase. We'll make it fun with prize giveaways for kids and drawings for fishing trips on Lake Ontario,” said Hale.
LOSPC and Bass Pro Shops will soon begin a multimedia marketing campaign with flyers at winter fishing shows, news releases, Web site promotions, and announcements in print advertising.
Angler-related businesses from Lake Ontario's adjacent New York counties are welcome to apply for booth space on a first-come, first-serve basis to promote their service or product to the central New York fishing market. A small registration fee will apply. For information, or a participant registration form, contact , show coordinator at 585/589-3187 or log onto www.ilovenyfishing.com.
The Lake Ontario Sportfishing Promotion Council is comprised of the seven-county tourism promotion agencies promoting fishing and traveling along New York's Lake Ontario shoreline.
