Camp Hollis and Zerbe Host Clean-Up Events During Earth Week
Camp Hollis and the Oswego County Nature Park at Camp Zerbe will open for the season with Community Clean-Up Days during Earth Week. The events are being held in conjunction with the Oswego County Environmental Management Council's “Earth Week 2008” activities.
“This is an ideal opportunity for community residents to help keep the environment clean and safe for the thousands of campers who use the facilities each year,” said Kathleen Fenlon, director of the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau.
Camp Hollis, located off Lakeshore Road in the town of Oswego, will host its event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday April 19. Projects will include cleaning trails, opening the cabins, setting up the playground and a beach clean-up.
The Oswego County Nature Park at Camp Zerbe, located on State Route 104 in the town of Williamstown, will host its event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 26. Projects will include cleaning trails, sports fields and a clean-up along the lakeshore.
Materials and supplies will be provided at both sites but volunteers may bring their own if desired. Participants may volunteer for the entire time or devote a few hours for the project. Pre-registration is not required.
The two parks are owned and operated by the County of Oswego. For more information about Community Clean-Up Days or the camps' programs contact the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau at 349-3451 or by .
