AmeriCorps Collects Phones for Family Violence Victims
OSWEGO - The Oswego AmeriCorps programs is collecting used cell phones on Martin Luther King Day to help victims of domestic violence. Phones will be donated to Services to Aid Families, a local domestic violence and rape crisis program.
People may drop off cell phones between 10:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, at the Oswego Public Library, 120 E. Second St. Phones without chargers will be accepted.
“AmeriCorps is observing Martin Luther King Day with this community service project,” said Kathleen Fenlon, director of the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau. “Donated phones will be used for people to call 911 in an emergency.”
