Cure Your Cabin Fever on the Tug Hill!

OSWEGO COUNTY - The Tug Hill region is world-famous for its extreme snowfall, and folks in Oswego County have a variety of ways to celebrate the extended winter season. Enjoy the competition of a sno-cross event, hot chili contest and cross-country ski race as well as a merry St. Patrickís Day celebration!
Come out and cheer on your favorite rider in the Tug Hill International Sno-cross Invitational at Cedar Pine in Osceola. Open practice runs from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 27. Enjoy racing and free-style performances from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, February 28 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 1. Admission is $25 for a three-day pass which includes all events. Children age 12 and under are admitted for free and refreshments will be available. For more information, call 599-7372.
The Sandy Pond Sportsmanís Association hosts its fifth annual Great Sandy Pond Chili Cook-off on Saturday, March 7. The competition is open to all cooks and awards first, second and third prizes for hot and other categories. Bring your secret recipe and try it out against some of the best cooks in the county. On Saturday, March 14, come to the Winona Forest Recreation Area in Boylston for the 29th Annual Winona Forest Tour-a-thon X-C Ski Race. Formerly known as the Tug Hill Tour-a-thon, the event features new state-of-the-art electronic timing equipment and an adventurous triple 15km loop course. There is something for the whole family at the Parish Irish Days on Saturday, March 14. Beginning at 10 a.m., an Irish parade marches from Dill Pickle Alley to the Mills and Petrie Memorial Gymnasium on Main Street. Festivities continue at the gymnasium with a craft show, raffles, Irish music and childrenís activities, while the American Legion on NYS Route 69A hosts a chicken barbeque. Admission is free.
