Agencies Host April 8 Workshop for Farmland Owners
MEXICO - Several conservation and agricultural agencies will present information on development rights for agricultural producers at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, at the Mexico VFW Post 369. The workshop is sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County, the Oswego County Community Development, Tourism and Planning Department, and the Oswego County Soil and Water Conservation District, with assistance from the Oswego County Farm Bureau and the Farmland Protection Board.
Speakers will discuss the process for securing funding for the purchase of development rights on agricultural lands, and farmland trust organizations. The workshop is open to farmers and local government officials who have an interest in preserving agricultural lands in Oswego County. Agricultural landowners who may be eligible have been invited to attend. Lunch will be provided.
