County Health Department Will Hold Best-Tasting Drinking Water Contest
at County Fair in Sandy Creek
SANDY CREEK - The Oswego County Health Department will hold its 19th annual best-tasting drinking water contest Saturday, July 4, at the Oswego County Fairgrounds in Sandy Creek.
Fairgoers will vote for their favorite samples of drinking water from municipal systems in Oswego County. The contest will be held July 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. under a tent near the County Economic Development and Tourism Building. All municipal water supplies are eligible to enter the contest, which is coordinated by the health department's environmental division.
“The contest is a friendly competition to remind people of the importance of protecting our water resources in Oswego County and across New York State. Last year, the Village of Pulaski placed second in the state finals at the New York State Fair,” said Natalie Roy, associate public health sanitarian for the Oswego County Health Department.
The winner of the Oswego County competition will advance to the Syracuse regional contest in early August, and regional winners will compete for the state title at the State Fair.
For information on the drinking water contest, call the Health Department at 349-3557 or 1-800-596-3200, ext. 3557. For a complete Oswego County Fair schedule, visit www.oswegocountyfair.com
