2009 Traveling Arts in the Parks Schedule
OSWEGO COUNTY - The Traveling Arts in the Parks program returns to Oswego County this summer with a full line-up of family entertainment! Bring the kids to enjoy these free performances at parks and municipal recreation programs throughout the county.
Joe Trionfero returns in 2009 with “The Show of Love”. He brings high-energy and enthusiasm to the program which specializes in character education for students in kindergarten through grade 12. Trionfero makes two appearances: Friday, July 10 at 3 p.m. at the Fulton Public Library on South First Street and Thursday, July 23 at 10 a.m. at the Hannibal Free Library on Oswego Street.
Wacky Chad comes back this summer to perform amazing tricks with a unicycle, pogo stick and shopping cart. His act also features impressive juggling and ridiculous jokes that will have audiences roaring with laughter. Wacky Chad is scheduled for two performances on Tuesday, July 14: 10 a.m. at the Maroun Elementary School on Elm Street in Phoenix and at 1 p.m. at the Fulton War Memorial on Route 3.
Glenn Colton makes an encore appearance this year. A performing artist, author and songwriter, Colton invites his young audiences to open their eyes, ears and hearts to make healthy choices. His show celebrates character-building traits such as respect, responsibility, and good manners through laughter and friendship. Colton performs on Tuesday, July 21 at 1 p.m. at Scriba Town Park on O'Connor Road.
Magical John Wolfson is new to the program in 2009. Through the art of illusion, he captivates audiences and transports them to an alternate reality. Wolfson appears on Saturday, August 1 at 1 p.m. at Oswego's Historic Maritime District on West First Street Pier.
Also new this year, the Wade Live Show is a dynamic and unforgettable magic show for kids of all ages. Using neon-colored doves rather than white rabbits, Wade performs tricks and stunts that will keep audiences guessing. He has two shows on Thursday, August 6: 10 a.m. at Goettel Community Park on Route 11 in Central Square and 7 p.m. at the Oswego YMCA Armory on West First Street.
The Oswego City-County Youth Bureau sponsors the Traveling Arts in the Parks program through funding by Oswego County, the Oswego Children's Board, the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, and participating towns and city recreational programs.
