Board of Elections Will Demonstrate New Voting Machines

The Oswego County Board of Elections has scheduled several opportunities for voters to try out Oswego Countyís new electronic voting machines.

Election Commissioners William Scriber and Donald Wart announced that demonstrations will be held at the following times and places:

  • Friday, July 17, 3 to 7 p.m., Pulaski Farmers Market, South Park, Pulaski.

  • Saturday, July 18, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., J. C. Penney Store, Oswego Plaza, Route 104 East, Oswego.

  • Monday, July 20, 4 to 7 p.m., Mexico Farmerís Market, Main Street, Mexico.

  • Wednesday, July 22, 3 to 6 p.m., Central Square Farmers Market, Goettel Community Park, Route 11, Central Square.

  • Saturday, Aug. 1, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., J. C. Penney Store, Oswego Plaza, Route 104 East, Oswego.

  • Sunday, Aug. 9, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Parish Volunteer Fire Company annual car show, 16 Union St., Parish.

  • Saturday, Aug. 15, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., J. C. Penney Store, Oswego Plaza, Route 104 East, Oswego.

Oswego County is testing the new optical scanner voting system in a pilot program with the state Board of Elections. The new system, which replaces all of the old lever-style voting machines, will be used this fall in the Sept. 15 primary elections and the Nov. 3 general elections.
