Board of Elections Will Demonstrate New Voting System at Farmers' Markets

The Oswego County Board of Elections has scheduled several opportunities for voters to try out the new electronic voting machines.

Election Commissioners William Scriber and Donald Wart announced that demonstrations will be held at the following times and places:

  • Saturday, Aug. 8, Fulton Farmers' Market, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Canal Landing parking lot, South First Street, Fulton.

  • Sunday, Aug. 9, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Parish Volunteer Fire Company annual car show, 16 Union St., Parish.

  • Thursday, Aug. 13, Oswego Farmers' Market, 5 to 9 p.m., West First Street, Oswego.

  • Saturday, Aug. 15, Fulton Farmers' Market, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Canal Landing parking lot, South First Street, Fulton.

  • Saturday, Aug. 15, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., J. C. Penney Store, Oswego Plaza, Route 104 East, Oswego.

  • Thursday, Aug. 20, Oswego Farmers' Market, 5 to 9 p.m., West First Street, Oswego.

  • Saturday, Aug. 22, Fulton Farmers' Market, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Canal Landing parking lot, South First Street, Fulton.

  • Monday, Aug. 24, 11 to 11:45 a.m., Brandy's Sunrise Restaurant, Route 3, Richland.

  • Thursday, Aug. 27, Oswego Farmer's Market, 5 to 9 p.m., West First Street, Oswego.

  • Saturday, Aug. 29, Fulton Farmer's Market, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Canal Landing parking lot, South First Street, Fulton.

Organizations who are interested in hosting a voting machine demonstration may contact the Oswego County Board of Elections at 349-VOTE or stop by the office at 185 E. Seneca St., Oswego.

Oswego County is testing the new optical scanner voting system in a pilot program with the state Board of Elections. The new system, which replaces all of the old lever-style voting machines, will be used this fall in the Sept. 15 primary elections and the Nov. 3 general elections.
