Oswego County and Community Partners for Recovery Thank Supporters
OSWEGO – The Oswego County Division of Mental Hygiene and Community Partners for Recovery extend their deep appreciation to everyone who participated in the promotion of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month in September. As part of a national campaign, Oswego County announced the proclamation last month and residents and retailers throughout the county embraced this year’s theme, “Join the Voices for Recovery: Together We Learn, Together We Heal.”
“The goal of this movement is to help people recognize that substance use disorders are treatable diseases and ensure that those affected by addiction are aware of treatment options and opportunities,” said Nicole Kolmsee, Director of Community Services, Oswego County Division of Mental Hygiene. “Working together as a community can foster awareness of addiction, treatment, and recovery issues and encourage those in need of services and support to seek help.”
Retailers in the cities of Fulton and Oswego were asked to show their support by displaying posters in prominent locations in their stores, including the front window, door, next to the cash register or on alcohol cooler doors.
The following retailers participated in the campaign:
OSWEGO: Kinney Drugs, May’s Country Store, Pigger’s Liquors, The Pit Stop, Ontario Orchards, Oswego Plaza Liquors, Oswego X-Press Mart, Scriba Meat Market and Wal-Mart.
FULTON: Cayuga’s Finest Market, Discount Liquors, Kinney Drugs, Kwik Fill, Norm’s Mini-Mart, Sammy’s Gas Station, Valero Quickway, and Wilson Farms.
Several other retailers and many human service agencies throughout the county also participated by displaying posters promoting Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month.
If you or someone you know is impacted by addiction, there is help available. Several community organizations offer support services:
