OSWEGO - The Oswego County Health Department has received additional H1N1 flu vaccine and is accepting calls for appointments from people who are in priority groups for receiving the vaccine, Dr. Dennis Norfleet, Oswego County Public Health Director, announced today. Both the injectable vaccine and the nasal spray vaccine are available.

Residents in the following priority groups for whom the H1N1 vaccine is highly recommended may call for an appointment:

  • Pregnant women
  • People ages 25 to 64 who have a chronic underlying medical condition;
  • Children and young adults six months to age 24;
  • Health care workers and EMS providers.
  • Household contacts and caregivers of children less than 6 months of age.

To make an appointment for the H1N1 flu vaccine, residents should call the health department Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. at 349-3572 or 1-800-596-3200, ext. 3572.

There is no charge for the H1N1 vaccine.

The health department anticipates that it will continue to receive additional shipments of H1N1 vaccine over the next several months and will notify the public through the media as it becomes available. The above telephone number will also carry a message regarding availability of influenza vaccine.
