Guides Offer Free Fly Fishing Classes to Disabled Veterans
Disabled veterans who have an interest in learning how to fly fish are invited to visit the Mexico VFW at 7 p.m. on Monday evenings for fly-tying classes. Disabled veterans who receive compensation from the VA are welcome to attend as many classes as they like, free of charge.
The program is sponsored by Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing and is coordinated locally by Fred Kuepper.
Veterans are asked to sign up for classes in advance, to make sure that materials are available for everyone. To register, call the Oswego County Veterans Service Agency at 591-9100.
Project Healing Waters also provides equipment and guides for a fly fishing weekend in the Pulaski area. The fly fishing weekend is free to disabled veterans and includes meals and lodging. There are no income eligibility requirements.
