Youth Bureau Is Accepting Applications for Camp Hollis
BULLS EYE! - With Lake Ontario on the horizon, campers practice their archery skills at Camp Hollis. The Oswego City-County Youth Bureau is now accepting applications for the camp's 64th summer season.
OSWEGO - The Oswego City-County Youth Bureau is now accepting camper applications for the 64th season at Camp Hollis. Camp Hollis offers a residential summer camp experience for youth ages 8 to 14, complete with swimming, nature hikes, arts and crafts, games, campfires and many more activities.
Operated by the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau, Camp Hollis is located at 40 Health Camp Road, off Lakeshore Road in the Town of Oswego. Children are supervised by trained staff. Meals and snacks are prepared according to US Department of Agriculture regulations. A full-time registered nurse serves on the staff.
Youth can register for week-long sessions beginning July 4 and running through Aug. 20. There will be a special "mini-camp" July 1 and 2 to introduce eight-year-olds to an overnight summer camp experience.
Parents and children are welcome to visit Camp Hollis at an open house from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 23. Visitors can tour the camp and cabins, meet the staff, and enjoy samples of camp activities. There is no need to pre-register and no admission charge for the open house.
Camp Hollis registration fees are set on a sliding scale, depending on family size and household income. Starting this year, parents who register more than one child from the same family, or the same child for more than one week, will receive a discount on the registration fee. Parents may now pay registration fees using a credit card.
Families experiencing financial difficulty may contact the Youth Bureau for information on other payment options. Full and partial scholarships are available from Friends of Camp Hollis, a not-for-profit group that supports Camp Hollis and helps the facility remain accessible to all families.
