Pulaski Takes Title for Oswego County's Best-Tasting Drinking Water

Village Water Will Move On to State Fair Competition-

The Village of Pulaski won the title for the best-tasting drinking water in Oswego County and came in second for the Central New York region in two recent competitions. Several municipal water districts took part in Oswego County's 20th annual drinking water contest during the Fulton Memorial Day celebration.

Pulaski won that contest, narrowly edging the Village of Mexico, and went on to the June 2 regional contest in North Syracuse. The village of St. Johnsville won the Central New York competition. In August, the two villages will compete against top contestants from other areas of New York State at the State Fair.

Oswego County taste-testers gave Pulaski 59 points, with the Village of Mexico receiving 57, City of Oswego, 54, Town of Richland, 45, and City of Fulton, 33 points.

The contest is sponsored by the Environmental Division of the Oswego County Health Department in conjunction with the State Health Department and the New York chapter of the American Water Works Association. The village of Mexico earned the title of best in New York State in 2002 and 1991.
