Entergy to Sponsor Oswego County Drug Quiz Show
PHOENIX -- Entergy will again be a sponsor for this year's 20th annual Oswego County Drug Quiz show at the SUNY Oswego Phoenix Extension Center. The competition begins at 9 a.m. Friday, March 11. This year marks Entergy's 14th year providing support for this annual community event. Parents and the general public are invited to attend.
"The Drug Quiz Show is an educational prevention program providing middle school students with skills and information to help them make important life decisions provided in an exciting game show format," said Katie Backus, community services coordinator for the Oswego County Division of Mental Hygiene and regional quiz show coordinator. "In New York State, the Drug Quiz Show provides alcohol, drug and tobacco education and information to more than 30,000 middle school students."
Middle school students from Fulton Junior High School, Hannibal Junior High, Mexico Middle School, Emerson J. Dillon Middle School in Phoenix, Pulaski Junior High School and Trinity Catholic School will compete.
The winning team of this year's Oswego County competition will advance to the regional playoffs at the Marley Education Center in Syracuse, April 4. The top four teams will then advance to the New York State finals May 16 at the Doubletree Hotel in Syracuse.
