Oswego County Announces Funds for Well and Septic Repairs
OSWEGO - Oswego County homeowners who meet income guidelines may be able to get funding for well, leach field and septic system repairs through the Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning revolving loan program.
The Well and Septic Repair/Replacement Revolving Loan Program offers low- or no-interest loans to repair failing septic systems or wells. To be eligible, the homeowner must meet HUD guidelines for low- or moderate income households, and the property must be the applicant's primary residence.
"The program is designed to assist low and moderate income homeowners by ensuring that potable water is available and septic systems are operational, to avoid a health or environmental hazard," said Donna Scanlon, Director of Community Development Programs. "Priority will be given to homeowners who live in areas where there are no public water or sewer services."
The deadline to apply is Saturday, July 30. Property owners must be current on their county taxes and agree to reside at the home until the loan is paid off. Other conditions also apply. For an application, call the Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning at 349-8292.
