Holiday History Shop Returns to the Port City
General Brown, Fort Ontario mascot, invites everyone to support local museums and historical agencies by shopping at the Holiday History Shop on December 9-10 and 16-17 at 201 West First St. in the City of Oswego.
OSWEGO - The popular Holiday History Shop featuring souvenirs and memorabilia sold by the historical agencies and museums of Oswego will return to downtown Oswego on Friday and Saturday, December 9 and 10, and December16 and 17. Located at 201 West First Street in the City of Oswego, next to Canal Commons, the shop will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Holiday History Shop participants include the John D. Murray Firefighters Museum, Friends of Fort Ontario, Friends of History in Fulton, Friends of Riverside Cemetery, Heritage Foundation of Oswego, H. Lee White Marine Museum, Oswego County Historical Society, Oswego Railroad Museum, Safe Haven Museum and Research Center, Scriba Town Historical Society, and others.
Items sold at the Holiday History Shop make great gifts and the proceeds go towards supporting the organizations that seek to preserve and interpret Oswego's rich history. Books, t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, lighthouse models, wooden muskets, games, toys, CDs, mugs, ornaments, pins, prints, textiles, and much more will be available for holiday shoppers. Hot chocolate, coffee, and tea will refresh shoppers, while volunteers dressed in period clothing and uniforms will provide historical atmosphere to the shopping environment. Major credit cards will be accepted.
