2012 Emergency Planning Calendar Now Available on Oswego County Web Site

Fulton -- The 2012 edition of the Oswego County "Public Emergency Response Information" calendar is being republished and will be mailed to residents of the 10-mile emergency planning zone near the nuclear power plants in Scriba before the end of January.

The calendar that residents in the area received in late December has errors in the maps depicting the Emergency Response Planning Areas (ERPAS). Patricia Egan, Director of the Emergency Management Office, said that while the calendars are being corrected and reprinted, residents should use the 2011 calendar as a reference for the maps.

The corrected version of the 2012 calendar is now available on the Oswego County website, oswegocounty.com/emo. People who have questions about which ERPA they reside in may call the Emergency Management Office at 315-591-9150 or 1-800-962-2792.

The calendar is a joint effort of Constellation Energy Nuclear Group, Entergy Nuclear, the Oswego County Emergency Management Office, the Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning, and the New York State Office of Emergency Management. It contains guidelines for public response to radiological and other types of emergencies for people that live within ten miles of the nuclear facilities at Nine Mile Point.
